Kincső Pethő
I have been dancing since the age of 8 and won many national and international ballroom championships both in junior and adult categories as a member of the legendary Savaria Dance Group.
After many years of stage routine, I turned towards acting.
During my theater career some of the most memorable roles I played were Miranda from The Collector that premiered in Madách Theater, Budapest or Mrs. Curley from Mice and Mouse in Weöres Theater, Szarvas or Mariane from Moliére’s Tartuffe.
In Brighton, England I became acquainted with the dance technique of Martha Graham, one of the founders of modern dance, this was a key period of my life. Later I graduated from the Hungarian Dance Academy.
During my career I was constantly looking for the art form in which I could use both my acting and dancing abilities. In 2008 I saw my first classical Indian dance performance by Panni Somi and her ensemble at the Savaria Historical Festival in my hometown, Szombathely. I knew at once that the compound nature of this dance was the one I wished for.
My first performance with Sivasakti Kalánanda Dance Theatre was Amrita in 2013 in which I was the main character. Her life was not only danced by us but I have also told her words. Since then I have been the member of the group either as a dancer or as an actress or both. According to Panni’s instructions I have learned how to teach bharatanatyam, so I have been teaching it to my students at a secondary art school for years.
I entered the world of television some years later, coming to national attention as a central character in the Hungarian drama ’ For Better or Worst’.
Among the Hungarian and international movies in which I have acted, was my potrayal as the ruthless interrogator in the film, ’Red Sparrow’ opposite Jennifer Lawrence.
