Indian dance pictures
Music: classical and traditional Indian pieces and compositions by István Lerch and Sándor Fekete Kiss
Choreographed and directed by Panni Somi
This performance aims to provide a comprehensive overview of South Indian dances. The programme includes classical Indian pieces, as well as modern choreographies based on classical dance techniques, and traditional Indian dances. Traditions and modern values are equally represented on stage with all the suitable costumes, sounds and atmosphere.
The rhythms of Indian dances may be cheerful, playfully light or complicated, as well as softly pulsating, aggressively racing, ostentatiously spectacular or modestly taking a back seat. Rhythm (tala) accompanies the life of the dancer like a repeated prayer (mantra).
